CDL Driver
Department: Life Enrichment
FLSA/Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Reports to: Campus Director
Shift: 1st shift, including weekend and evening rotation as needed.
Location: Peterson Meadows Campus - Rockford, IL

Summary:
Responsible for coordinating and transporting residents throughout campus, to and from appointments and events in a safe and professional manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Must be able to safely and efficiently operate a passenger van, shuttle van, and bus.
- Must be able to communicate by telephone and in person in a clear, courteous, friendly, and professional manner with residents, guests, co-workers, and other persons.
- Must be able to read, understand, and complete driver trip sheets and read and understand inter-office communications, schedules, or other documents.
- Adhere to safe methods of assisting residents in and out of vehicles and buildings.
- Adhere to wheelchair safety procedures.
- Must track maintenance and repair needs for company vehicles, communicate needs with maintenance, and schedule appointments for necessary maintenance of vehicles.
- Complete all other related duties as requested by the Assistant Director.
Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:
- Must possess an active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with passenger endorsement - Required.
- Must maintain a clean moving vehicle record, per DOT standards.
- Must pass yearly DOT physical for CDL renewal.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Good interpersonal relations with proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for 3-4 hours during an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to stand and walk for 3-4 hours during an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to frequently lift 10 to 25 pounds while walking or bending at the waist and knees.
- Must be able to frequently push, pull, or move carts and wheelchairs, exerting a force of 50 to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to use wrists, fingers, and hands for repetitive firm grasping, driving a vehicle, and operating a computer and telephone.
Other federally regulated requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment background check, including (MVR) moving vehicle records.
- Must have or be willing to receive the Flu-Shot Vaccine and TB testing.
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening, including cannabis.
- Must be willing to undergo biometric screening.
